Frequently Asked Questions

Water FAQs

In almost all cases you will need the help of certified restoration professionals. The water may be contaminated, and there may be hidden water behind the walls or under the floor. When we come to your house, we’ll use moisture sensors to detect any hidden water sources, and we’ll make sure the area is left entirely dry.

Drying times vary depending on the extent of the damage. However, in most cases it will only take 3-5 days for the entire area—including areas under the floorboards and behind walls—to be completely dried. At Panhandle, we pride ourselves on our speed and efficiency, and we will get your home back to normal quickly.

It is strongly recommended that you stay out of the flooded area. Even if the water came from a clean source, it may have picked up dangerous contaminants, and it may also be carrying an electric current. After we arrive, we’ll safely enter the area and assess the damage, and we’ll remove any valuables that can be salvaged.

Fire FAQs

Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration offers thorough cleaning services and contents restoration. In many cases, even furniture and other valuables that were burned can still be cleaned and returned to their former state.  As soon as we arrive on site we’ll assess the damage and determine what can be salvaged.

If the damage was extensive you will probably have to move out. Fortunately, your standard homeowner’s policy should cover the costs of relocation during cleanup. We know how stressful it can be to not have access to your home, so we will work quickly so you can return to your property as soon as possible.

Yes! We are a full-service restoration company, and we will be able to cleanup all elements of damage caused by the fire. We will extract all the standing water left by the fire department, and we’ll get rid of the smoke and soot residue. Once we’re through restoring your property it’ll be as if the fire never even happened.

Mold FAQs

Once it has been determined that mold is growing in your home, we’ll send out our team of professional remediators to completely remove the growth. As they prepare to remove the mold, our team will contain the area using air scrubbers to prevent the spores from spreading. Before they leave, they will also find the source of the moisture that caused the mold, seal it, and completely dry the area.

The most common symptoms of mold exposure include allergy-like upper respiratory ailments. If you or a family member are constantly feeling congested, have itchy eyes, a sore throat, or other related problems then you should have your home inspected. Less common but more serious symptoms include dizziness, headaches, and nausea.

It’s all right to remove certain types of limited mold growth on your own. However, since it is so hard to detect the type and extent of the mold without testing, we strongly advise that you have the area professionally examined before attempting to remove it on your own. Improper treatment may allow the mold to spread further.

Smoke FAQs

Some types of smoke damage can be cleaned up by hand, but you will want to consult with smoke recovery experts first before you start. Some kinds of damage will only be made worse if you don’t use the proper equipment and chemicals to get rid of the odors.

After we’ve assessed the damage, we will create a customized recovery plan for your home. Different kinds of smoke damage require different kinds of treatment, and our certified and experienced professionals will be able to deal with each kind appropriately.

It depends on the extent of the damage. Smoke residue and odors can be dangerous, so if the smoke affected a large portion of your house you may have to move out for a few days while we thoroughly clean and deodorize your entire home.

Storm FAQs

First of all, don’t panic. Give Panhandle Restoration and Cleanup a call and in almost all cases we’ll be on our way to your home within an hour. In the meanwhile, try to do what you can to minimize the water damage. If possible and safe, cover the hole in your roof with a tarp or other waterproof material.

Yes—talk to us. You shouldn’t have to live in a damaged home just because times are tough. Give us a call, and we’ll come out and assess the damage and provide a free estimate for cleanup. In many cases, we will be able to work with you to form a payment plan that fits your current budget.

It depends on the type of damage. If the damage was caused by wind or snow, then your provider should cover every aspect of recovery, including contents restoration and reconstruction. If the damage was caused by flooding, you may have to pay for the expenses yourself.
